I really appreciate these guys and the work they do for these dogs on a day to day basis. They are thorough when they do their checks and also understanding if you want to see a dog a few more times than normal before making your decision. We have 2 dogs from this shelter (Byron and Libby) both dogs had been cared for properly by the shelter and are lovely dogs. I'd like to personally thank the dog behaviourists for spending time with us and helping us work out whether we are right for the dogs. The South African guy gave us confidence in Byron when other staff of the shelter said that the Byron was unsociable and reactive towards other dogs. He is the best dog we have ever had and we believe it was just the kennel environment that didn't allow the staff to see the friendly bear that he is, the South African guy (can't remember his name, sorry) showed us that if we trust Byron he will behave. We were able to use these skills with Libby and the latest behaviourist at the shelter (the girl, again I'm not good with names) was very patient when we wanted to arrange multiple meetings between Libby and Byron before making our decision. Thanks to all the staff for the great work you do!

Two of my four animals come from here, my mixed breed dog in particular was adopted just under two and a half years ago now and loves popping in to see the staff who looked after him. The staff remember him well and he (and my assistance dog) get loads of fuss every time we go in. We still use the attached vets and my assistance dog users the groomers. We have had amazing service from wonderful staff who always have time for a hello to the dogs and a chat. With four pets we're in and out all the time and have even been to see the behaviouralist and everything is excellent. I think the truest endorsement comes from the dog we adopted from there though, who happily runs in the door, tail wagging, hunting for his staff friends who looked after him when he lived there. I couldn't wish for better animal care from the vets, groomers, behaviourist and other shelter staff.

Great team. It shows they care about each and every dog. My malamute came out with looking like a new bear. It can be hard to get an appointment with them so need to book way in advance.

My Pomeranian has definitely had a positive experience, the lady working here is really lovely, they bond straight away and she did an amazing job with my dog's double coat. I will surely be back soon 😊

Conservation project work on the coast of southern Belize; 4 weeks of fascinating, diverse activities including mangrove surveys, bio-diversity studies, nature trail clearance and promotional work, review of local school conservation projects - Fun, hard work and thoroughly rewarding rewarding! I spent my initial few days helping construct some steps at the local primary school in Abenta. Despite having limited building experience, I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of designing and then building the school steps that will hopefully serve useful to the children and teachers at the school. The remainder of my time over the last 3 weeks I supported Gladys Darko teacher of year 4. My teaching experience was also very positive and I was immediately given responsibility for leading lessons on Maths, Science and English as well as supporting Gladys in other subjects. Additionally I ran an after-school ICT workshop for the children, where I tried to encourage the children in keyboard and mouse navigation skills and basic use of Word, Calculator and Paint program functions. I believe this worked well despite the limited number of laptops after the theft of a number of them prior to our arrival. I tried to encourage the children in keyboard and mouse navigation skills and basic use of Word, Calculator and Paint program functions which alsongside a few games they seemed to enjoy. I had a great 4 weeks in Ghana and felt I was not only doing something for the local community but even started to feel part of it. The local team are great and all of the Ghanaians I met in Abenta and elsewhere during our travels throughout Ghana were so friendly and welcoming.

A truly great experience. Although only 2 weeks for me, everyday was packed full of adventure. I signed up for construction and worked on 2 projects during my time in Ghana. One was a creche and the second was a health center. I met a great group pf people, not only the superb local staff but also a great bunch of other volunteers. We certainly worked hard mixing concrete during the day - building the foundations of future hope and success. The afternoons were spent either playing with the children (after school club), or simply chilling. There were cultural lessons put on by project and local teaching staff, authentic local cuisine tasted at "Aikins Mums House" as well as visits to local markets and even a evening excursion to the pub! I feel that although my visit was only 2 weeks, I achieved and experience so much. David Moore. Aged 53 - yes even older people can enjoy volunteering!!

A well managed book and music shop. There is a range of classic literature available. Prices are high, but the quality is good. The book sections in the window are difficult to access and need more space. Pleasant and helpful volunteers.

Helpful staff. Good cause. Post Christmas sale now on.

I always pop in here when visiting my friend in Cheltenham. The glassware is lovely. I've picked up martini glasses, a lazy Susan and bowls in the past. The staff are friendly too.

Best 2nd hand charity book shop in North Glos!
