Booked a room here for a big birthday celebration out and it was really important we all had somewhere to stay. I spoke to a lovely man called George on the phone who not only made me feel really welcome but helped me find the best rooms for us all and made the whole stress of booking a hotel so much easier! Such a brilliant chap, would definitely recommend!
Good value for money. The room had more facilities than I was exciting. Our bathroom was spotless.

Nice old style hotel. I've not stayed in the rooms, but the food, drinks and service are all top quality. Nice atmosphere, plenty of food seating, well placed around the main bar area.
Visited the Bistro for a family birthday and could not have been more welcome. The staff were all exceptional, very friendly, knowledgeable about the food and drinks and very professional. The food itself was beautiful, although it's advertised as just good basic bistro food to me it's a far from that, the grilled octopus and braised mutton in particular really were exquisite. If you're so inclined I can also highly recommend the Sweet, Sweeter, Sweetest wine flight, a beautiful selection of desert wines. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

The hotel was immaculate and the service first class. The restaurant food for breakfast and dinner was fantastic and the table staff could not be more helpful. Afternoon tea in the garden was also a delight. Reception upgraded us to a very nice room which was very clean and comfortable. The only niggle was on departure we were given the plastic door key by reception to exit the car park but it was not accepted by the barrier, so we caused a jam trying to sort out how to exit.
Generally a pleasant stay. Lift access to all floors, but not all rooms. Basic rooms are exactly that with small, but functional bathrooms - access by wheelchair would be impossible. The rooms are well equipped and appear to be recently renovated. They are, however, noisy as the building is listed and cannot change the single glaze sash windows. I've concerns with the pattern of the carpet in hallways as it hides undulations and unevenness in this historic building - this may cause issues to the visually impaired. The bar is, again, small yet pleasant and has a wide range of options and the breakfast was a decent portion and very tasty.

Good service. Good wines. Food very mediocre - over cooked chicken and beef -
I have to be honest and say I wasn't desperately impressed overall. Our party of three adults and three children booked for a Sunday lunch. Two of the adults asked for half-portions or child's portions of the Sunday roast (lighter bites), but we were refused as we weren't children, so we ordered the 'adult' version. An overly large portion which we both left much of and paid for wasted food. Two of the other meals were overdone but not worth complaining about. It was disappointing.

Lovely back Street pub with typically 6 beers on pump and lagers on tap. Decent food. Small courtyard garden. Good indoors seating set in different small rooms.
Excellent food, excellent service and very friendly staff to whom nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.

I hesitate before reviewing The Strand. I really want to keep this place to myself! Recently refurbished to a very high standard, it's a cracking place. Good real ale and cider, lovely staff, good food, pleasant atmosphere and a great beer garden. To update, still a fabulous place. The beer quality is super..
Good food, comfortable surroundings. Outside areas.. Good drinks selection..welcoming service. Reasonable prices.

Warm and friendly welcome, comfy rooms, beautiful grounds, tasty and generous breakfast. Everything a good B&B should be.
The B&B was more like a glorified hostel with entry via a bike shed. The breakfast was fine, but at £85 it was well over priced and one of the most expensive we've ever stayed in . Percy

Brilliantly located, impeccable rooms and very pleasant and accommodating staff. Oh and the breakfast is satisfying too with a great fresh fruit salad, cooked food as well as options for those with food allergies or intolerances (dairy free milk, gluten free bread). Maybe just ask about these before your arrival. Had a great stay and would highly recommend.
Location is excellent, walking distance to everything. The rooms on the website looked grander than they did in person and didn't feel like it was a 5 star hotel, or worth the price paid. Breakfast also took a long time to arrive which made us leave late. However, it was still a comfortable stay and the host/owner was very nice.

Absolutely wonderful weekend at the Walnut Store with my sister. Beautiful accommodation and the hosts Tom and Sally could not do enough, Breakfast fantastic pool superb and the surrounding area delightful. Would certainly recommend to anyone. Will definitely return .
If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

The Highlands was an incredible cottage. We had a fabulous weekend. It was perfect for 10 people with a dog, and we loved the added bonus of the tennis court. The house had everything we needed; it had so much space; very clean and very well stocked. The gardens were amazing. Definitely 5 stars! What a great place in a beautiful part of East Sussex.
We were impressed with the accommodation and the service of our hosts at the club room. The park is great and with access at all times, with the use of the buggies made all the difference. The work that the park undertake with regards to the breeding of endangered species can only be fully supported. Would recommend more then one night, we stayed four nights.
